I’ve learned a lot since making my major league debut a few years ago. The skills necessary to hit major league pitching and learning the pitching staff well enough to be an effective everyday catcher haven’t come easy, but I’ve been committed to improving myself everyday.

Another area of my life that I’ve also dedicated myself to over the past few years has been through understanding what a real commitment to Jesus Christ means. While I grew up going to church and understood what it meant to have a personal relationship with Christ, it took me a long time to commit my life to him and live for Him.

Every day is a learning process and each day is filled with its own challenges. It is my goal to please the Lord out of love for Him and gratitude for giving me eternal life. It is great to know that because I placed my trust in Jesus Christ alone for my salvation I am assured of spending eternity in heaven. There is nothing I could ever do that could earned this – not by doing good works or going to church - for salvation is a free gift from God, who sent His Son to die on the cross in my place. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Knowing Christ and walking with Him each day, reading the Bible and praying, gives my life meaning and allows me to live with joy, not regret. I hope you have an eternal relationship with Jesus Christ, He is the only way to the Father, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6).
