Jonathan Johnson

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5,6)

I grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ as my savior at a young age. I gained tremendous knowledge from my parents (my father was a minister and my mother taught Sunday school), but it wasn’t until ninth grade that I learned being a Christian is much more than knowledge. God wants to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus Christ. When we develop this relationship and truly trust Him, He will make our paths straight! Daily communication through prayer, and His Word are necessities.

When I attended Bradley Jr. High in Cleveland, Tennessee I was involved with a group called “Straight Is In”. Students pledged to be leaders for the rest of the student body in academics, remaining free from drugs, alcohol and sexual promiscuousness. My involvement in this group opened my eyes to one of the responsibilities of being a Christian – leadership. Now, God has blessed me with one of my childhood dreams – playing professional baseball.

Once it became obvious that God had plans for me to play baseball for Him, I made a commitment to always use the platform He provided to glorify Him. He guided me through three years at Florida State University, one Olympic team, and six professional baseball seasons. Because of my faith and trust, God has not only blessed me with baseball, He has also given me a wonderful wife, Kristin, and the coolest little boy ever created, Tucker. God is truly awesome and loves me more than I can ever imagine.
I hope you have experienced God’s unconditional love demonstrated in sending His only Son to provide the way to eternal life.
