Playing in my first major league game was a childhood dream come true. Words can't describe the feelings I had running onto the field in Baltimore's Camden Yards in 1992. Now that I have retired from baseball I can look back and cherish a lot of very special times.
During fourteen years playing professional baseball God used that time not only to allow me to play the game, but to teach me about His plan for my life and the lives of all people. Through Christian teammates, coaches and managers I learned that God wants us to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. This relationship starts by asking Jesus Christ to come into your heart and be Lord of your life. Jesus died for my sins and for yours. He is the way to eternal life in heaven. This is God's promise to us! "Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." (John 17:3)
Although I had accepted Christ in my heart when I was 10 years old at summer Bible camp, I didn't start nurturing my relationship with him until I was 28 years old! A relationship with Christ is like a relationship with any friend. Without communicating there is no growth. Through prayer, Bible study and worship with other Christians a relationship with Christ can grow stronger each day! My prayer is that you too will invite Jesus to be Lord and Savior in your life. God has a wonderful plan for each of us in this life and the life to come. To know the plan God has for your life, get to know Jesus!
Favorite Bible verse: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
