Being a Christian man in the sports world is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I sometimes fail at my walk with the Father no matter how hard I try not to. The thing is, He already knew I would fail and even after I do mess up, God still loves me.
The Bible says that Jesus understands our weaknesses in times of temptation but that we can come boldly to Him and obtain His help in time of need (Hebrews 4:15-16). The Bible also tells us there is nothing in all of creation that will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:38-39). God also helps me keep my priorities in line with His word: God first, family second, and career third.
As we develop our personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we will experience ups and downs, but the reward is well worth it. Consider this glimpse of what heaven will be like for those who have trusted in Jesus alone for their salvation.
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." He said to me: "It is done, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son" (Revelation 21:4-7).
