Mike Timlin

There are two things I love to do in life. One is to play baseball -- the other is to go hunting.

As a blessing from God I have a wonderful wife who understands both sides of me.

Every baseball player strives to be great - to throw the no-hitter or hit the game-winning home run. Every hunter looks for the perfect shot - and then does his best to make the shot.

I accepted Jesus into my life in 1989, while in a batting cage in Florida. Even though I thought things would get easier in my life, that wasn't always the case. I still made some bad choices and still thought I could do things by myself.

The Scriptures say "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) That's true for everyone of us. And no matter how hard we try to do things on our own we can't - we mess it up.

Thankfully our God loves us no matter what. And if we "confess with our lips and believe with our hearts" (Romans 10:9), we will have eternal life with God.

As a hunter, I see the glory of God all around me in this world  (Psalm 19). As a believer in Jesus I know in my heart I have eternal life.

As the Scriptures say in Colossians 3:23-24, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for me; since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward."

That's what I try to do every day - and I encourage you to do the same.
